Color Me Creative Challenge #80 - Masculine Card Challenge

It's time for a new Challenge at Color Me Creative.  This one is the guy/masculine challenge.  I used an image called Slugger Sam from our sponsor  Dr. Digi.  The site has super-fun male images.

My intention with this image was push myself with coloring - and I did!  The white uniform was tricky in creating midtones and for shading.  I used my light C's .  I also worked to add ripples to his clothes and giving his uniform stripes!

This card is for my grandson's 13th birthday.  He's a big Minnesota Twins fan, so from the outset, I was determined to mirror the Twins uniform.  I googled the Twins and looked for images of players and coaches in a bit of a side view to see how the logo would look on the uniform. Unfortunately nobody had Sam's big belly, so I had to do a little guessing!  I'm pleased with the coloring and how the card turned out!

I used this week's Sketch Challenge (#459) at Splitcoast Stampers for my card design.  It was a perfect compliment for the bold Slugger Sam image.

Now it's your turn - get your guy/masculine cards going and link your card up at Color Me Creative.  You have until November 8th.

Creative Inspirations - anything goes
Crazy 4 Challenges - favorite stamp (I'm using a digi)

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #282

How cute is this sweet little trick-or-treater? She reminds me of one of my granddaughters! I promise that this is my last Halloween card! Between the witches and the other trick-or-treaters, I have plenty of cards to send out to all of the grandkids.  I have a feeling they would be happier with candy!

Sketch Saturday is being sponsored by Stamp Fairy this week and this candy corn darling is one of their digi images called Mimi Halloween.

I fussy cut her and mounted her with pop dots.  The card seemed to need something, so I did a little fancy folding with a piece of black and white gingham ribbon.  It kind of reminds me of ribbon candy!

Take a look at what the DT did with the sketch and then play along with us this week yourself!

Sister Act Challenge #30

This week's Sister Act Challenge is sponsored by Digi Darla Designs.  I've used their Sunny Sunflower image for my card.    I just ordered a batch of sequins and thought I would add them to my card.  Setting them in place so there is visual appeal can be tricky.  I think this works.

The camera picked up a lot more orange in the flower than one sees with the human eye, but it sure adds depth to the image.

Hope you will stop by and play with our anything goes challenge this week.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #281

Back again with another great sketch for you from Sketch Saturday.  This week our sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs.

I had a little help from a friend with this card.  I received this image several weeks ago from Kristy Kroll over at Tiddly Inks.  (By the way, she is available for just $1.00). I knew I would use her for a card around Halloween  Then viola, Trisha S., my friend and fellow DT member at the Sister Act Blog used the same witch!  I hadn't thought of adding shadows to create ripples in the skirt and haven't had much practice with it.  Luckily, the power of the internet came through for me again!  I printed Trisha's witch and used it as a tutorial for my own card. Many thanks to Trisha and her excellent coloring skills.  I love how this came out, including that fun red hair!

Sister Act Challenge # 29

Resale Clip Art is the sponsor for this week's Sister Act Challenge Blog.  As always, it's an anything goes challenge, so any card is welcome!

I chose to pull out an "oldie" from my stamp collection.  It's from Inkadinkadoo.  I've seen this one at Michael's, but I snagged it from the sale bin at my LSS four years ago.  I wanted to give myself a stretch with the dog's fur.  I usually blend colors with my Copics, but decided to try some texture.  The little ghost is fussy cut and has pop dots behind him.  I used my C2 around the letters to give them a shadowed look.  I'm trying to use the My Mind's Eye 6x6 Halloween papers that I've had in my stash for two years.  Each of the Halloween cards I've done recently uses some of it!  I'm so happy to be using my hoarded paper stash!!

Challenges Entered:
Make it Monday - anything goes
Clear it Out Tuesday - theme - Halloween, stash - anything orange
Party Time Tuesdays - color challenge
Creative Inspirations - autumn/fall colors
Divas by Design - Fall colors

Cute Card Thursday - candyman (That is what trick or treating is all about!)

Sketch Saturday - Sketch # 280

It's been a crazy week without much spare time, so I am double-dipping two DT Challenges with my card. One is Sketch Saturday's weekly sketch.  It's a Simon Says Stamp sponsor week at Sketch Saturday. That means $25 goes to the lucky winner!  Good luck to everyone!

The other DT Challenge is for an anything goes challenge at Color Me Creative (CMC). Bugaboo Stamps is the sponsor and generously provided images for the DT.  I wanted to stretch myself with coloring, so I have fun looking through their site for an image.  Bugaboo has a line of witty old fogeys digis. This one is called Stella and Gus - Deck of Cards. The inside says:  In the beginning, all you need is two hearts and a diamond. By the end, you wish you had a club and a spade. I got a chuckle reading that one - after 37 years of marriage, I've had those moments!  I'm sure my husband has too!  I wonder who takes the most grief, Gus or Stella?!?

Hope to have the chance to visit your blog on my travels this week.  I'm looking forward to your creativity!

Challenges Entered:
Use It Tuesday - scraps, pieces, odds & ends (scrap drawer papers, previously punched hearts from old Valentine paper, buttons

Sister Act Challenge #28

Digi Stamps 4 Joy, a South African company is our sponsor this week at the Sister Act Challenge Blog. I am using one of their images called Thanksgiving Topiary.  This is my second attempt.  My first one was in more traditional fall colors.  I'm not sure if I was uninspired that night, but it looked a little, "Meh," so I tried a different color palette. I took the colors from some old Cosmo Cricket paper,  planning to use it in the background - but the image was too big.  Something about this has a holiday feel, so I decided to use it for a friend with a December birthday.

Here's my fall colors version.  It may still end up on a card, who knows!

Which one do you like better?

Play along with our Anything Goes Challenge - I'm looking forward to seeing your creations!

Sketch Saturday #279

Our own DT member, Lizy is sponsoring Sketch Saturday this week!  Lizy is an Independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator and has a lovely gift for this week's winner.

If you are a regular visitor to my blog, I promised you other versions of this witch.  You can read more about my hat coloring toils and troubles in last week's post.  This little witchy  (from Dilly Beans Stamps - Candy Witch Framed #241) doesn't have green makeup.  Most of the papers are from an old My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad of Halloween paper, except for the two flags.

I can't wait to see how you interpret Lizy's sketch this week.  Have fun!

By the way - the Operation Write Home Blog Hop is going on through the month of October.

SIster Act Challenge #27

Sentiment - Adjusted Sails by Verve.  Flowers - WPlus 9
I usually like to work ahead with my DT cards, but this week I pushed right up to the deadline.  I have a feeling it was meant to be.  This morning as I was visiting blogs, I came across a card Joanie Mc made for  Link Up for Pink! - a Breast Cancer awareness blog, and I was instantly inspired. Already planning to give this Unity stamp called Adjusted Sails the chalkboard look, my card started to unfold.  I sent the card my sister-in-law, who, after coming through Hodgkin's lymphoma in her teens, was diagnosed with breast cancer in her 30s and had a double mastectomy.  She is a survivor and has been cancer free for about 10 years.  Her spirit and faith is inspirational. It was such a lovely morning making this card with her in mind.

This week's anything goes challenge at the Sister Act Blog is Ink and Whimsy 2.  I hope you'll make time to link a card.  Make it pink and post it at Link Up for Pink, too.

By the way - The Operation Write Home Blog Hop is going on through the month of October.

Operation Write Home Blog Hop

My card for the hop uses an image
called
Hello Baby Giraffe from A Day for Daisies.

Design team members from Paper Temptress, Oozak, and Color Me Creative have brought our creativity together in the hopes that we would inspire you to join us (DT members) in doing a good deed!
Most of you know our men and women from the armed forces are deployed all over the world. Sometimes these men and women are in places that make it very hard,or they’re far away from where they can pick up a sweet card to send a quick note home. Luckily, they have OPERATION WRITE HOME (OWH). OWH is a non-profit organization that sends special boxes filled with cards to soldiers all over the world. How can you help OWH keep the good deed going? By creating cards!!! Yes! OWH angels receive tons of handmade cards from crafters all over the world, then they check and organize cards to be sent out to our soldiers. Take a look at some of their own words about OWH packs:
Now we would love for you to join us to help OWH. We thought it would be amazing fun to do a blog hop to inspire you! Design Teams from Paper Temptress,Oozak and Color me CreativeClassroom have joined together in one amazing Card Drive HOP. The fun just gets better! You can join in by making as many cards as you possibly can..the more you create the better your chances are to win one or more prizes.  Here are the guidelines on how to enter and win!  PLEASE remember that… IMPORTANT…. OWH guidelines MUST be followed to be entered to win a prize.
Once you create as many cards as possible enter a picture of ONE of the cards you have created on the hop Inlinkz (at the end) then mail all the cards you created  to the address below. Send as many cards as you can create so you have the best chance possible to win one or more of the 14 fabulous prizes by November 7th.
YES!! You do a good deed and you also can win a sweet gift!!!
Please visit the Hero Blog to see how much they appreciate the cards

Thank you to our sponsors

I am so happy to be part of this hop.  I've sent off cards to OWH in the past, which leaves me with a great feeling.  It's just a small way I can support the troops and their loved ones.  Thinking about the power of all of us coming together fills my heart with joy and gratitude!   I plan to make cards all month and send a box of cards that my card club is making - many of whom have a friend or family member who has served in the armed forces. Perhaps you will consider gathering some friends together and send off a batch yourselves.

♥♥♥
It’s time to HOP around. Leave little note as you pass by these lovely designers’ blogs! Don’t forget to add your project to the inlinkz at the end of the Hop! You will also find the address to mail your cards at the end of the hop. You can Hop throughout the month of October. This way everyone in their own time can hop and join in!
