A Day for Daisies - Showcase

Merry Christmas to you and your family.  We are showcasing Tammy's new angel images at ADFD this week - and what a better time than at Christmas?

My card features an image called Sparkle Angels.  After coloring them, I looked up angel quotes and found one that went perfectly with the image!  The paper colors are from this week's Splitcoast Color Challenge and the sketch is #217 from Freshly Made Sketches.

You still have another week for the add pearls challenge at the ADFD blog.  I hope you'll play along with us.

Vacation Fun!

Today is the first day of my winter break and I've had the day to myself.  I spent some time in my craft room - just playing!  It's the first time I haven't worked on a card for a DT challenge and made one for fun.  It was a great feeling.  I was inspired by two of today's challenges at Splitcoast Stampers.  The CAS challenge this week is snowmen and the technique challenge is to use a bow.  I combined both for my card.

Over the weekend, I mass-produced a bunch of holiday thank you cards for gifts from the kids at my school.  I mistakenly stamped a thank you border upside down and tried a snowflake embossing folder, but it didn't work with the other elements on the thank you cards, so I used pushed the paper to the side to be used another time.  That's where I started with today's card.  I went to my stamps and found this little snowman from Inky Antics.  It's several years old!  From there, I used my Lil' Inker stitched circle dies and made a frame.  I added the bow, and viola! a new style of thank you card!

Here's the original card I created using Mama Elephant's Sentimental Borders and Blogging Buddies stamp sets and a notebook paper embossing folder from Darice.  It was a super-quick card to assemble multiple copies of.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #391

Simon Says Stamp is the sponsor for our Sketch Saturday challenge this week.  That $25.00 prize could have your name on it, but you have to play to win!!

My card uses one of Stacy Yacula's adorable snowmen from Purple Onions Designs. Who can resist this face?  He makes me feel happy just looking at him! I paper-pieced the scarf, twigs, and nose.  I had scraps of glitter paper on my desk from snowflake die cuts and decided to add them to the bottom of the snowman.

Time making cards is the perfect way for me to relax and centered myself during this busy time of the year.  I'll be in there lots this weekend between visits from the grandkids and wrapping presents.

Check out the DT's cards here.  Hope we inspire you to play along with Deb's sketch!

A Day for Daisies - Showcase

This is a showcase week for A Day for Daisies.  This image is called Berry for Dinner.  It's the first time I've ever colored a squirrel!  I went on the internet and looked at some squirrel pictures, which helped me make decisions.  Mine are gray squirrels rather than brown.  One of the reasons I love being on the ADFD DT is for weeks like this that push me to develop my coloring skills.  Neat and Tangled's sentiment was perfect for this sweet image!

(By the way, there's a free image bundle being offered with an $8 purchase.  Tree Top Dreams, seen below, is on sale for $2.00)  There's still a week to play in the watercolor challenge on the ADFD Blog.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #388

We're back with a new sketch for you at Sketch Saturday.  This one was perfect for the leaf I embossed on watercolor paper (a year ago) and added the embossed sentiment to for a sympathy card.  I colored the leaf with a variety of old SU! markers and watercolor brush.  I decided to keep the card CAS, so back in the scrap drawer, I noticed a discarded embossed card back, and used the debossed side of embossing folder in the background.

Stop by the SS Blog to check out the DT inspiration and play along for a chance to win this week's prize from sponsor, Bunny Zoe Crafts.

Creative Knockouts #115 - Something to Say

This week's Creative Knockouts challenge is "Something to Say" - we'd simply like you to add a sentiment to your card.  Image That is our sponsor.  They have an assortment of already colored images and black line, so you can do your own coloring.  I'm using Joyous Reindeer from their collection.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #386

Bugaboo Stamps is our sponsor this week.  I decided to use their image, Glass of Wine A Day as a birthday card for a wine-lover I know.  I wanted to keep the glass big, so I made Debra's sketch into a long card, created a computer generated saying, and popped the glass out with Stampin' Dimensionals.   My friend likes to wear sparkles and bracelets, so I created a bracelet from some small rhinestones and used a gold Gel pen on her shirt and some of the flowers in the background paper.

A Day for Daisies Challenge #133 - Add Some Texture!

It's time for a new challenge on the ADFD blog. The challenge for the next fortnight is to add texture!  I used a favorite embossing folder.

The DT is sharing some new digis with you over the next two weeks. My girls is called Flying Fairy Joy.  You will love the fairy sweeties. They are so versatile and can be dressed up for any occasion! I was so inspired by my other Teamie's use of watercolored backgrounds, I had to give it a try myself.  Many thanks to Freshly Made Sketches for the card design idea.

I hope you will play along with us at ADFD.  The challenge prize is a free digi from the ADFD shop.

Sketch Saturday - Sketch #385

It's the fifth Saturday of October, so that means your choice for a sketch to use!  Take a peek at the sketches from #215-375 and choose one for your card. I love these weeks - it's such a treat to go back and look through the old sketches.  There are some goodies!

Sami Stamps is our sponsor and the winner will receive a credit for $12 in her shop.  I've used her image called A Bundle of Dreams and combined it with Sketch #276 (from 2013).  The oval was the perfect shape for this image.  One would never know I'm not a purple gal by looking at my past few posts!  I've enjoyed playing around with combining my Copic BVs and Vs lately to given some color variation and kept it going for this baby card.

Play along with us this week.  Here's what the Sketch Saturday DT colored up for you to get you started!

A Day for Daisies Showcase - Green-Eyed Monsters

I hope you have been enticed by the Halloween week previews of the Green-Eyed Monster stamps at ADFD.  This week's showcase features 3x3 cards using the monsters!  Peter is my card's monster. I used a set of eyeballs from another monster, covered all of the eyes with Crystal Effects, and created a sentiment with my computer.  Love these versatile little monsters!  Take a peek at my last ADFD post to see how I used three other monster friends!

Halloween Week Fun - ADFD!

We are having a little extra fun this week on the A Day for Daisies Blog and on the Facebook page.  Each day, two members of the DT are going to have a post featuring the Green Eyed Monsters stamp collection.

Because it's the week before the big kiddie candy fest in North America (a.k.a. Halloween), Arielle thought it would be fun to keep the sweet treat theme going.  I've made some treats for my grandkids using Monster Cindy and Monster Molly.  I had some square tubes in my stash and filled them with a couple of pieces of candy and cute Halloween straws I picked up at T.J. Maxx.   One of the tubes has fun size Twix, one has Life Savers, and the third has fun size M & M's.  I love how the tags turned out! The eyes have a little dimension because I used Crystal Effects on them.  Check the ADFD Blog or Facebook Page to see what else is in store!

A Day for Daisies - Challenge #132 Sweet Treats

The ADFD challenge for this fortnight is all about the treats!  With Halloween coming in a week, it's such a timely challenge.  We are challenging you to make a treat or a room decor item.  I used one of the Pumpkin Head girls to adorn my tin.  It's currently filled with candy, but I am sure the granddaughter who it's going to will put her treasures in it after the candy is gone!  Take a look at what the DT has for you here.
