New Baby!

A colleague of mine just found out she is having her first baby.  I thought this A Day for Daisies image called Sleeping Flower would be perfect to send to her.  This image has been printed and sitting in my collection since 2014 and never colored up!! (Yikes!)  Needless to say, I was thrilled to be able to pull it out for today's post.

I wanted everything to be gender neutral, yet very soft and baby-like.  I am so happy with the results.  My colors are usually pretty bold, so this took a little more thought with my marker choice.  I started with the patterned papers and let that be my palette.

I used Muse Challenge 176 for my card design.
August starts a new challenge format for us at ADFD.  We'll be having a monthly challenge instead of bi-weekly and throughout the month each of the DT members will be posting cards that feature one of Tammy's beautiful illustrations in the shop.  My first post is next week - so stop back!!

Challenges Entered:
As You Like it 7/28/ - Favorite Papers and why  (I love small prints, especially flowers.  As in this card they offer a gorgeous palette choice to color from and compliment the image without taking over.)  Gingham and polka dots are a close second!!
Aud Sentiments #160 /- AG + sentiment
4 CC #309- Favorite Designer/ - A Day for Daisies

Sandra Caldwell Birthday Blog Hop

GOOD MORNING!
We are celebrating the very talented Sandra Caldwell's Birthday
(which happens to be TODAY!)with a birthday blog hop.
Won't you please help us celebrate?!

We have each made a creation with images from Sandra's Etsy store.
If you arrived here from Delores Miller, YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!

I used Halloween Hippo for my card for Sandra.
(It's in the  Babycakes Digis and Design Etsy Shop for just $1.00 until the end of July.  Use it yourself and enter the contest at Markers! Paper! Digis Facebook Group.  You might win!)

I know it's not a traditional birthday card,
but Sandra used to be part of a group of Halloween artists.
I figured this image would be the perfect tip of the hat to her
as a way to send some birthday wishes.  I bet she is one fine party girl!!
My card uses a Tim Holz embossing folder; the sentiment is from MFT and colored with Copics YR65, RV55 & YR04.  The "party animal" sentiment is created using Mama Elephant's Calli Letters stamp set and cut out with MFT's fishtail dies.
My card design was inspired by Challenge #52 at Tag You're It!

Happy Birthday, Sandra.  I hope you are surprised and feel cherished.

So, next hop on over to Donna Mundinger and see her wonderful creation.

A Day for Daisies - Lovely Fairies

It's the second week of the ADFD CASE a DT member's card challenge.  My image is called Fancy Dress Fairy - and that she is!  Her wings are fussy cut, colored with Wink of Stella, and popped out.  The Memory Box butterflies are colored with Copics and glisten with Wink of Stella as well.

I tried something a little different this week by printing the image right on the sheet of patterned paper and colored it directly on the paper.  It took a little bit of putzing around to get it precisely where I wanted to print it, but it wasn't too much.  I just worried I would wreck it at any point in the process!!  (And at the end when I was attaching the sequins, a stream of glue shot across my desk as I was trying to unclog the tip - I thought I was done-for!!)  Luckily, it missed my card completely!

Check out the DT inspiration here on the ADFD blog.  I hope you will find some time to play along with our challenge. You have until July 28th to play.

Challenges Entered:
Tuesday Throwdown #303/ - Favorite embellishment (sequins and popping out something on the image to create dimension)
As you Like It 7/14/ - Trademark Style -I'm not sure if this is a style, I am clean and layered -but like Mojca, I love coloring, so that's where I put my emphasis.

Creative Knockouts #151 - Birthday Wishes

Good Morning, Creative Knockouts Fans!  Birthday Wishes is this week's challenge.  Star Stampz is our sponsor; my image, Alice Chibi begged to be made into a belated birthday card.  This one went through many iterations on the way to its final look.  I had these butterfly button dies and used them as an accent and added glossy accents to the clock faces.
Don't forget to check out the DT inspiration here. Can't wait to see what you enter in the challenge this week.

Beach Ball Kitty!

Monday means another collection of new digis at Sandra Caldwell's Etsy Shop, Babycakes Digis and Designs.  This one is called 770 Beach Ball Kitty.  I decided to go with primary colors and cut the card back to 4" so I could pop the speech bubble off to the side and it would still fit in a standard envelope.

Pop over to the shop and to Sandras's Facebook group to see the other images and catch some inspiration from the DT!

Under the Big Top!

Hi Everyone,

Sandra Caldwell has some fabulous new images in her Etsy shop this week with a circus theme!  How fun is that?!?  My image is called #954 Circus Tent.  I searched for sayings about the circus and found one that seemed like a perfect fit for those days when life is a bit crazy!  I made my own background paper using clear embossing powder over patterned paper, then rubbing ink over the paper and wiping the ink off of the embossed part.  I love how it looks with this image.

Pop by Sandra's Facebook Fan Group to see what the other girls made with this week's circus images and then do a little shopping!

Speaking of the Facebook Group, there's a fun ATC card exchange happening as our challenge through July 25th.  This is my entry.  She's called #799 Celebration Glamour Nana. The challenge is in honor of Sandra's 65th birthday!  You go, Girl!!

A Day for Daisies - July Club Kit Week 2

I hope you have had a chance to see the ADFD July Club Kit images - they make me swoon!  This is called Fairy Queen Bouquet and is great as a stand alone or in combination with the Fairy Queens in the ADFD Shop.  I decided to go with bold colors for my card using analogous colors to blend with my flowers.  It's not as easy for me to do this kind of coloring as using the natural color families.  I took Sandy Allnock's online Copic class and am trying to push myself to use what I learned.  Enough about me - You have got to see what the other DT gals have created on the ADFD Blog!  There's one more week to play along with the Two-color ombre challenge.  Join us!

Challenges Entered:
As you Like It 6/30/ - Favorite markers - Copics because I can blend so easily with them.

Creative Knockouts #149 - Animal Antics

"Animal Antics" is the theme for this week's Creative Knockouts challenge, sponsored by Fabrika Fantasy.  These cute kids are a digi named,  Little Travelers.  My card is a combination of the digi and stamps.  I have to admit I was momentarily stumped as a DT member because I didn't look at the theme when I chose my sponsor image (oops!).  I went to my trusty stamp stash and dug out a retired SU set called Zoofari and borrowed the snake for my card.  The background trees are stamps from Paper Smooches and the stitched frames are from Lil' Inkers.  There's lots of fussy cutting on this card and the kids are popped out to look like they are walking out of the picture.  It's super-cute IRL.

Take a look at the rest of the DT inspiration here and then play along with us!

A Day for Daisies Challenge #151 - Try A 2 Color Ombre

July Club Kit is out and features a collection of delightful queen fairies.  Mine is called Fairy Queen Ruby and she is brand new in the ADFD Shop!

I decided to try something new with this girl and used the an ombre look on her overskirt and sleeves.  I printed two images and fussy cut the overskirt and popped it out on the card to give it some dimension and the wings are colored over with Wink of Stella for shimmer.  The main image is die cut using Lil' Inkers Oval Stitched Dies; the background is an embossing folder from Anna Griffin; and "celebrate" is a Memory Box die.

Pop over to the ADFD Blog and look at the rest of the DT's creations.  You'll have a hard time choosing which new image you'll want to buy!
