CAS Colours & Sketches #208

Since this is the fifth Tuesday of the month, we have a double challenge for you on the CC&S Blog.  Karen has chosen some old favorites for the color and paired it with a great sketch.  I didn't have any Sage Shadow in my stockpile, so I used that shade of green to color the leaves of the poppies.  I love the combination of Peach Parfait and Dusty Durango papers.

The image is from A Day for Daisies.  I love the CAS look of this card.  The focal point of the image with the textures of the white and Dusty Durango are just enough to keep this interesting to my eye.  The sentiment is a perfect font and fills the space well!

Take a peek at the rest of the DT inspiration, here and then come and play along!

CC&S #207 Sketch Challenge

Karen has a fun sketch for us to work with this week.  It's simple with so many fabulous possibilities!  Just wait until you see what the DT has in store for you over at the CAS Colours and Sketches Blog this week!!

I used stitched dies from MFT and a PTI sentiment with some orange embossing powder, Distress Inks, and three enamel dots for my card.

Hope to see something from you in the CC&S Gallery this week!

CC&S #206 - Color Challenge

Karen has a fun combination of colors for us this week using Watermelon Wonder, Island Indigo, and Flirty Flamingo.

For those of you who are blog regulars, you know I am working to develop my CAS eye through this opportunity to be on the CC&S DT. Well, I thought I'd share a little bit f my journey with you.  I created a number of cards for this challenge - looking for that "just right" CAS feel.  I thought I had settled on the one with the punched border (below), but as I was running through the card in my mind, I felt it was a little busy to be CAS.  I went down to my craft room the next morning and used one of my discarded panels to create the card on the right.  It has a lot more white space and fewer layers.  The bow is purposefully angled to compliment the diagonal sentiment.  I like them both - but knew I was on the right track with the second card because it seemed a little plain to my eye!

I dug out a very old chalkboard-looking stamp set from Our Daily Bread and pulled out my Mini-Misti to stamp a solid background and used three Copics to color the words,  IRL, the white letters are coated with Wink of Stella and have shimmer.

CC&S #205 - Sketch Challenge

This week Karen has a sketch for you to try your hand at on the CAS Colours and Sketch Challenge Blog.  I used Altenew's Mini Blossoms stamp set for my card.  I made the decision to keep it simple with minimal coloring, using my Copics for the leaves and just a touch of RV000 on the small flowers.  The larger daisies are merely stamped with black ink.  Thank goodness for my Misti!!  It allowed me to create well-stamped images.  The small flowers are stamped in Pink Pirouette with a touch of Melon Mambo in the centers.

Check out inspiration from the rest of the DT here!  Hope you will join me on this journey of developing a CAS eye and post your own cards in the gallery!

A Day for Daisies - Bewildered

I love so many of the images in the Beauties collection in the A Day For Daisies Shop.  The hair and eyes are two things that appealed to me about this one, called Bewildered C.  She's been sitting partially colored on my desk for a couple of weeks because I was hesitant to tackle that head of hair!  Luckily, I wandered over to the Splitcoast Stampers site and this week's inspiration challenge helped get me unstuck.  This dress from a Tumblr site called, I Don't Wear Dresses was a perfect muse.  The top portion of the dress with all of the folds and movement made me think of her hair and then the rest fell into place!  IRL, the browns in her hair are toned a little closer to the dress and not so red-brown.  I stayed with the E20 family, along with E49 and 57 for my deeper colors.  I wanted to stay true to the photo, so I didn't add a sentiment on the outside of the card.  All of that is on the inside.

I fussy cut the image and placed her over an oval that was stamped with my trusty French Script background stamp from SU.  The edges are distressed with Soft Suede ink and three enamel dots to finish her off.  The brown embossed panel behind her head was calling to be used in my scrap drawer!

A Day for Daisies January Challenge - Two or More Layers

Happy New Year!  It's hard to believe we are already one week into 2017.

I am crazy about layers, so this month's challenge theme (Two or More Layers) is a no brainer for me!  I count five layers!  No Copics on this card; I tried my hand at colored pencils.  I love how they look on kraft paper (even though this is Sahara Sand).  I just have an inexpensive set of 24 Crayola colored pencils, and was pleasantly surprised how well they worked.  I bought a Prismacolor white for the shading.

You can't tell from the photo, but her wings sparkle.  I made the background paper using a Hero Arts stamp (thanks Daria!!- Love it!!) and white embossing powder.  White gel pen gave the appearance of snow in the globe.  Sketch Saturday's great sketch helped give me a plan for my card design.

Get your layers on and join the A Day for Daisies Challenge this month!   You have until January 31st to upload your card in the gallery.  Remember, challenge winners receive ADFD images and a chance to be a guest designer.   Check out the inspiration from the DT here!

Hi Everyone,
This is my first official post as a member of the CC&S DT.  Lots of white with this week's color combination of Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky and Sweet Sugarplum.  I used a set from PTI called Splits- Just a Note for this card.  Maille Belles is the talent behind this series of stamps.  I love her style.

A Day for Daisies - Angel with a Bell

The holidays are over, but there are still thank you cards to write, so I took advantage of this adorable image called Angel with a Bell to make a shaker card for one of my thank you cards.  I fussy cut the angel and mounted her to the deep purple paper.  Her wings, shoes, and the bell are glittered.

Friday starts a new challenge on the A Day for Daisies blog.  Be sure to stop over and see what the DT has in store for you!
