Guest Designer - Back to School!

I was invited to be a guest designer for Challenge #34 Back to School on the Craftaholics R Us Blog.  I chose to pair an image from A Day for Daisies called, Happy School House with the Pencil Me In from PTI.  Lots of red and yellow with the lined handwriting paper give this a great fall look.   This will be a card for my DIL next week when two of her three kiddos are back in school!

CAS Colours & Sketches #238 - Double

It's the fifth Tuesday of August, which means we have a CC&S double challenge for you this week involving colour and a sketch.  Thanks Karen, for hosting this month!

I tried my hand at another one layer card using Reverse Confetti's Paper Crane Stamp Set, which happens to be on sale right now!  I started by sponging the Bashful Blue circle and then stamped the crane and sentiment.  Keeping it CAS, my Mini-Misti was helpful stamping the vertical lines of triangles.  Copics were used to bring the other two colors into the card.  I love the sentiment and will get lots of good use from it!

Take a peek at the creations the other members of the CC&S DT have to give your mojo a jump start here - and then come and play along in the gallery!

CAS Colours & Sketches #237 - Sketch Challenge

Back with a great sketch challenge this week for the CAS Colours and Sketches Blog.

A package from PTI's latest release arrived on my doorstep this week and the Beautiful Berries:  Autumn Stamp Set barely had time to be pulled from the box before I inked it up.! It was the perfect stamp set for this week's sketch.  In addition to the inks, I added some makers for additional depth of color to the image.  I love the triptych idea Karen has given us to play around with!  Take a peek at the DT's work here and then join us in the gallery!

Stick It Down - August Card Sketch

I have to admit, this month's Stick It Down sketch challenged me!  The good news is pulling out all of my stamps to find "the one" and going through my hoarded pile of paper unearthed some fabulous "finds" - right in my own stash!!

You know those stamps you must have when you see someone's card online?  That was the case for me with Altenew's Vintage Flower Set.  It has been in my collection for over a year and has never been inked.  I can't even remember the card that called out, "Buy this set, now!"  I've pulled it out before, but the three layer stamping just sent me over the edge!

Well, needing three of the same images in different sizes, meant Vintage Flowers finally came out to play.  The clear stamps are nicely stained - Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Melon Mambo left their mark!  I used Certainly Celery, Pear Pizazz, and Old Olive for the greens. Right At Home Stamp's Script Greetings Die Set and a sheet from that coveted stack of patterned paper from my collection filled in the space!  I love the feminine feel of this card.  In the end, the three layer stamp wasn't so bad!!

Pop by the Stick It Down Blog and see what the rest of the card team has for you this month, and then play along!

Making Memories August Challenge - Team B

Posting my card for the August Making Memories Challenge, which went live on August 4th with Team A's images.  Today is the midpoint of the month and Team B is keeping the party going with more inspiration!  The challenge theme is Anything Goes/One for the Girls or Ladies.

I'm using Bo Bubbles from our sponsor Digi Stamps 4 Joy.  I under-colored the bubbles with a variety of 000 markers and then added Stickles on top.  It makes them look iridescent in real life and in the photo!  I added the flowers to her hair to correct a puddle of ink that gushed from my E57.  You can't even tell!!

I hope you will join us for Challenge 8 this month.  Digi Stamps 4 Joy is offering a generous $10 voucher to our winner.  Good luck!

CAS Colours & Sketches #236 - Colour Challenge

Welcome to this week's CAS Colours and Sketches blog.  Karen has some fun, happy colors for our challenge this week.  I pulled out an old PTI stamp, Modern Basics, by one of my favorite designers, Mailes Belles, for my main image and added a newer set from Lil' Inker Designs, called Whoops for the sentiment.  Fortunately, I had all three ink colors in my collection and once I settled on  the stamp set, decided to make a one layer CAS card.  My Misti was so helpful in making sure everything was well-inked!  The Calypso Coral looks a lot more orange in the photo than it does IRL.  Lots of white space and judicious use of the Bermuda Bay to keep your eye moving over the card helps this design!

Check out how the rest of the DT played with this week's colors and then join the CC&S challenge this week!

CAS Colours & Sketches #235 - Sketch Challenge

This week Patricia has a sketch challenge for us on the CAS Colours and Sketches Blog.  I rotated the sketch and decided to use an adorable image from Dilly Beans' creative artist Megan Suarez, called Amalia Flower Fairy for the shape.  I took Patricia at her word when she said "any non-rectangular shape" - and cropped the image on the right side of the page.  The sentiment is computer generated for a friend who is a new grandma.

Take a peek at the DT's take on the sketch and then play along with us this week!  Hope to see you in the gallery.

August Guest Designer - Stempelgarten

I was asked to be a Guest DT member for Stempelgarten's newest challenge,  Summertime.  I am thrilled to share A Random Fan's Lifesaver image with you.  You can find it in the Stempelgarten shop HERE.  I created the sand and water background with my Copics.  The sky is created by blending Distress inks.  My sentiment is pulled together from a combination of stamp companies.

There's a wonderful prize of paper, a stamp and other goodies for the challenge winner.  Take a look at it in the photo below!

My old teamie from Sketch Saturday, Alex runs the blog and the shop, so it's been nice to reconnect with her.  I hope you will play along with Stempelgarten!  Good luck!

CAS Colours & Sketches - #234 Colour Challenge

Good Morning CC&S Fans,
Happy first Tuesday in August!!  Patricia is this month's CAS Colours and Sketches host. The first Tuesday means a color challenge and Patricia has chosen Blushing Bride, Cajun Craze, and Tempting Turquoise for everyone to play with. Unsure of how to combine these three colors,  I started by featuring the Blushing Bride and Tempting Turquoise and using Cajun Craze as an accent.  It would be a super-simple card to reproduce. The only thing I'd change is to reposition the flower at the top so it would have a turquoise seed bead.  Loved those little accents!

The stamp set is called Find the Beauty from Right At Home Stamps.  A Misti was instrumental in creating this card because it allowed me to stamp each flower three times to have a well-stamped image.  I stamped three more layers of Blushing Bride for the lines on the petals, giving it a deep color.  Cajun Craze was too much of a contrast on the flowers, so it was relegated to the little cluster of dots moving around the flowers.  The sentiment is white embossing powder and the lacey oval background is a very old (and seldom used) die from Papertrey Ink.

Hope you will join us this week in the CC&S Gallery.  Take at peek at the DT creations, HERE for some inspiration!
